Wonder Woman has earned the title of most talked about film of 2017 on both Twitter and Tumblr.
After experiencing a summer of record-breaking box office success and critical acclaim, Wonder Woman can now add the title of most tweeted about film of 2017 to the list of achievements. Twitter released information on the most tweeted about films and shows of the year with Wonder Woman earning the top spot on the social media platform. La La Land placed second, Dunkirk placed third, Spider-Man: Homecoming placed fourth, and Justice League rounded out the top five. Unfortunately, lead star Gal Gadot was unable to rank in the top 10 most tweeted about celebrities of the year.
Furthermore, Tumblr recently revealed their 2017 Fandometrics list and Wonder Woman ranked first on the social media site’s list of “2017’s Top Movies.” Disney’s live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast ranked second followed by Moana, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and the remake of Stephen King’s It.
Game of Thrones took the top spot on the list of most tweeted about television shows in 2017 with Netflix’s Stranger Things taking second place. Reality TV series Big Brother, 13 Reasons Why and Saturday Night Live rounded out the top five.

Of course, the conversation is far from over with Gal Gadot set to reprise her role as Wonder Woman in Flashpoint and the DC Comics heroine’s own standalone sequel.
Plot details for the Wonder Woman sequel are currently under wraps, though the film is set to follow the Amazonian Princess during the Cold War as she faces off against the Soviet Union in the 1980s. Patty Jenkins will return to direct, co-write, and produce the sequel with The Expendables co-writer Dave Callaham signed on to pen the film based on a treatment by Jenkins and DC creative chief officer Geoff Johns.
Wonder Woman 2 is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on November 1, 2019.

Wonder Woman has a rich rogues gallery that has transformed and grown alongside her as she’s become one of the world’s most iconic heroes.
Ares, the Greek god of war, was the main villain for Wonder Woman’s first outing, but DC is gonna need to shake things up for future projects. Diana Prince has already proved herself a terrific warrior in Batman v Superman when she took on Doomsday, so I’m excited to see who the creators want to throw at her next. She doesn’t need a full team beside her — Wonder Woman is warrior enough to defend the innocent from all types of threats.
