Twitter reacts to ‘awful’ call at end of Kansas, Villanova game
Villanova’s 64-59 victory over Kansas in the South Regional Final on Saturday night in Louisville was a nip-and-tuck showdown throughout, but a questionable foul call in the final minute is what everyone is talking about.
Kansas guard Devonte Graham was stripped by Villanova’s Mikal Bridges with 34 seconds left, but the ball caromed toward the sideline. Graham dove for the loose ball, but was called for a foul after making incidental contact with an opposing player’s foot. Wildcats guard Ryan Arcidiacono made a pair of free throws at the other end to give Villanova breathing room at, 58-54.
Frank Mason III responded with a 3-pointer from the top of the key on the Jayhawks’ next possession to cut the deficit to one, but that was as close as Kansas would get the rest of the way.
Of course, Twitter took it out on the officials:
That is tragic. One of the worst calls I’ve ever seen

I don’t care about the rule book. Diving for a ball is not a foul!!!!!

No matter what happens in this game, just know it was the ref’s fault.

College basketball is nothing more than a series of shoves, bad calls, and bad skills.
