The Signal Multi-Media group has hired social media strategist James Tinsley to manage the news group’s social media and content marketing planning to expand its audience reach and reader engagement.
Tinsley previously handled social media marketing for YMCA of the Foothills, which served La Crescenta, La Cañada and Verdugo Hills. Prior to that he spent five years in the solar energy industry handling direct marketing and managing a team of solar energy canvassers.
“The first couple weeks working in a newsroom was an adrenaline rush; being on point and on top of breaking news,” Tinsley said. “The last marketing job I had, we would post two to three pieces a day, max. Here I do up to 10 posts a day on up to three different social media platforms. It’s way more fast-paced without room for error as the content is going straight to the public.”
Also contracted by a Los Angeles-based marketing firm, Tinsley served as a lead brand representative for Nickelodeon in July 2012 at the Comic-Con event in San Diego.
In the Comic-Con role, he helped implement direct marketing strategies and employed street-team tactics to spread brand awareness.
“I am very much looking forward to bettering The Signal’s digital media presence in every way possible and am truly grateful for being able to work with such a talented staff on a daily basis,” Tinsley said.
