It certainly seems like Star Trek Discovery has pushed its promotional efforts up to warp speed recently. Yesterday, we got three big revelation in the show’s first look trailer, the news that the first season would be getting two extra instalments, taking its episode count up to 15, and the announcement that it will get it’s own companion show entitled Talking Trek, an obvious reference to Talking Dead, the popular companion show to The Walking Dead.

Now, CBS has released a trio of new Trek photos, as well as a new poster for the series. The images appear to be from the same episode, or episodes, featured in the trailer. One shows Michelle Yeoh’s Captain Georiou on the bridge of the Shenzhou, surrounded by her crew; another is a beautiful long shot of her and Sonequa Martin-Green as First Officer Michael Turnham on the surface of a desert world; and the third is of the show’s new-look Klingons.
The poster is even more intriguing, however, showing Martin-Green’s face behind a hand giving the open-fingered Vulcan salute. Is there a connection between her character and the Vulcans? The trailer seems to suggest so, with James Frain’s Sarek saying, “You will never learn Vulcan: your tongue is too human” to a young child before cutting to Martin-Green, suggesting that her character may have some Vulcan heritage.
Star Trek: Discovery is set a decade before the events of Star Trek, stars Sonequa Martin-Green as First Officer Michael Burnham, Jason Isaacs as Captain Lorca, Michelle Yeoh as Captain Georgiou, Doug Jones as Science Officer Lt. Saru and Anthony Rapp as astromycologist Lt. Stamets, with Rainn Wilson appearing as Harry Mudd. It is currently slated for a fall premiere on CBS and CBS All Access.
