It’s not just Russel Howcroft that sees the appeal of PwC as the management consultant ranks the top Australian company to work at in the LinkedIn Top Companies 2017 list.

The annual ranking looks at what companies in top markets around the globe are most sought-after by professionals, based on data from LinkedIn’s members.

Following PwC, KPMG came in second place on the list, followed by big banks Westpac and Commonwealth Bank in third and fourth position.

According to LinkedIn’s report from the rankings, the one thing many of Australia’s top companies have in common is they reward their employees well.

Birthday leave, wellbeing programs and an open dress code were just some of the perks at companies like PwC and REA Group; which came in sixteenth place.

LinkedIn AUNZ director of talent and learning solutions Jason Laufer says: “It is interesting to note that all the new additions to the list for 2017, including Westpac and CIMIC group who are in the top 10, are Australian-born, reflecting Australian professionals’ desire to work for home-grown companies.”

“We know that a company’s culture and purpose are key drivers for attracting great talent, but also retaining employees. Companies that are developing and sharing content through their employees’ networks are actively demonstrating their employer brand to potential candidates,” he added.

However, “it’s not just perks that differentiates these companies” says Laufer. Companies are also helping transform employees by “providing the opportunity to work on meaningful projects and creating an environment” he says.

Almost a quarter of the 2017 list are new additions, ranging from companies like CIMIC Group and BHP Billiton to property developers like Scentre Group, retailers such as Wesfarmers and Cotton Group and also National Australia Bank.
