Pinterest-like image saving and tagging feature added to Google Search on the web

Last year, Google added a Pinterest-like photo saving and tagging feature to Image search. It was first available on the mobile web for Android and iOS, but starting today Google is rolling out the feature to desktop search.

The feature does not seem to be active yet, but it should work the same way as on mobile. When you click on a picture, there will be a save button next to ‘visit page’ and ‘view image’. Saved photos can be viewed and organized at google.com/save (not yet live). The site is reminiscent of a much simplified version of the Google Photos web interface with a toolbar on the side for navigation.

The first view shows all saved items, while the second shows various tags as albums. Users have the ability to edit a photo’s title and add notes. Each photo also includes a link to the original page an image is from. Additionally, you can select, tag, and delete images in bulk.

Since launch last November, the Google app on Android has added support to directly save and view photos. Previously, users would have to first open up the image in a browser.
