Parks shared a meme of Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders with the words, “I went to Yakima today. Now I know why Trump wants to build a wall,” on it to his Facebook page. He added the words, “Wait until he sees Pasco!” to the post.

KEPR shared this post to our Facebook page and received comments of outrage, with some people calling for Parks to resign.

Other commenters on Facebook saying they support Parks, and that he isn’t a racist but that he “has been outspoken against illegal immigration.”

Pasco Mayor Matt Watkins saw the post and added a comment as well saying, “You managed to trash Yakima, Pasco, and Latinos all at once. That’s lame Bob.”

Parks was electedat large to the City Council in 2002. The City of Kennewick’s government page says, “His areas of emphasis for the City include economic development and increasing overall citizen involvement and trust in local government.”
