‘He can’t even look good in a testimonial!’ – Twitter laughs at West Ham ‘legend’ Carlton Cole
West Ham ‘legend’ Carlton Cole was back at the Boleyn Ground for Mark Noble’s testimonial on Monday, and fans couldn’t believe how bad he was…and that he’s still playing!
The former Hammers striker lined up for the ‘West Ham All-Star XI’ team, with the likes of retired stars Paolo di Canio, Craig Bellamy, Rio Ferdinand, Julian Dicks, Dean Ashton, and Teddy Sheringham also taking part.
But 32-year-old Cole, still playing with Scottish champions Celtic, was one of the worst of the bunch, according to fans.
He failed to get his name on the scoresheet at Upton Park one last time, while Di Canio, Bellamy, Sheringham all scored, with Ashton netting twice in the friendly clash.
But it was West Ham’s first XI who ran out winners in the 11-goal thriller, with Noble capping his testimonial with a goal in a 6-5 win.
